Bernard Goldstein was born in 1889 and became a leader of the Jewish workers' organisation, the Bund and in the Jewish underground resistance during the Second World War. After fleeing the Ghetto and eventually Poland, he emmigrated to America where he wrote this memoir. Long out of print, this is one of the most detailed first hand descriptions of the undergound, the political forces within the Ghetto and the battles to resist the Nazis.
